By now, everyone's seen the video of a female spectator mugged by a Red Sox fan so he could throw Alex Avila's home run ball back on the field. Well, he got ejected for that, but he probably should've gotten a boot earlier in the night, according to nearby fans. Apparently, he was yelling at black fans in the stands, calling someone wearing a Fielder jersey "Prince Fielder's crackhead brother," telling another "Go back to the ghetto," and when he was escored out, yelled "Bye, Trayvon."

This Man Just Called Everyone In The Media Nerds
Rays P David Price had a bad ALDS Game 2. He gave up seven runs in 7+ innings, and claimed Big Papi watched his second home run too long. So how did Price handle the rough night?
Dirk Hayhurst...COULDNT hack it...Tom Verducci wasn't even a water boy in high school...but yet they can still bash a player...SAVE IT NERDSTo be fair, Hayhurst was wearing a bowtie yesterday, and demonstrated the "Vulcan changeup" last week. But Price didn't keep his criticisims to the Turner guys:

David Price didn’t just bash the TBS crew, he called reporters in Bos nerds to our faces. Walking away from scrum ‘Great questions. Nerds.’Afterwards, TBS' Keith Olbermann tweeted this picture.

Yes, that's the Dodgers rookie, dressed as everyone's favorite claymation character, standing next to an icon in broadcasting. It was part of some rookie hazing, which included Hyun-Jin Ryu dressed as the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.

Prince Fielder Doesn't Just Look Like He'd Snatch Your Nachos
As one Tiger fan discovered in the top of the 5th, as Fielder chased a foul pop fly, Fielder will pretty much help himself to your concessions.

This Is The Greatest Play Of The 2013 Baseball Season
Yes, this is what is now considered "The Buttslide." During the first inning of Tuesday's game, Astro Jonathon Villar slid head-first towards second base. But Cincinnati/s Brandon Phillips was waiting with the tag of all tags, as Villar got a nice face full of ass. And it's not 1920: it's 2013, with HD cameras and the internet in full swing. And if MLB.com's got the video, then you know this video will be with Villar for the rest of his life.
Matt Harvey Can Go F*ck Himself
Here's the rules of how most sports radio interviews work (as well as pretty much every interview on the news, television, and magazines):
1. You're a person of interest that a radio show would like to talk to. You have endorsements from companies that would like for you to promote them. So a radio show will offer you the opportunity to promote your endorsements, as long as they can ask questions about how interesting you are.
2 - Be interesting, so that this radio show, as well as any other shows in this copycat business, will want to bring you back on. This will allow you more opportunities to promote your endorsements, making you a popular choice for future endorsers.
3 - Remember that no show wants to book you so you can just talk about your product: that would basically be a commercial. And radio would prefer a company to simply pay money to advertise for their show. That's why one third of an hour is left open to commercials: and national shows leave about 80% of that ad space for their local stations, which means that's a minute of precious ad time that they'd like your endorser to purchase.
4 - If you're a genuine asshat who wants to do an ad your endorser isn't paying for, a radio show will be less likely to have you back on, which means less opportunities to promote your endorsements. And if you can't promote your endorsements, they will be less inclined to pay you for them.
5 - If you're a colossal fuckdick who hasn't paid attention to rules 1-4, and you decide to go on a national show and do an ad, try not to be beligerent and try to have a coherent and interesting read.
6 - Always remember that it's not your show: the host reserves the right to hang up on your inept ass and clown both you and your company afterwards. Which is what a decorated name-brand pro like Dan Patrick will do. He's been working his game well before you were shitting your Pampers, and considering you're a Met, will probably be well known well after you're gone.
So congratulations, shithead. Enjoy having your ass deservedly handed to you.

Bobby Valentine Is Not Letting This 9/11 Thing Go
Yankee's president Randy Levine responded to the former Mets manager's accusations the Yankees were never involved in the Ground Zero recovery and mourning, criticizing him for pointing fingers and saying, "he would have been better to have kept his thoughts to himself rather than seeking credit."
Well, Bobby was open to addressing Lavine's comments, which he did on NBC Sports Radio's The Erik Kuselias Show on Thursday. Basically, he called for Levine to produce evidence the Yankees did anything after 9/11.
Valentine also said, "All I remember is people asking for the Yankees and me making excuses for them not being there."

That's So A-Rod! Alex Hires A TV Lawyer
Alex Rodriguez has hired a new lawyer, and it's MSNBC regular Joe Tacopina. And in his first comments on his client's case, he was as sensationalizing as you'd expect. From the New York Times:
Read more at the New York Times.
Tacopina said the team had not wanted to see Rodriguez play again and had been engaged in a yearlong campaign to embarrass him and keep him off the field. This should be the greatest thing, until the NCAA hires Nancy Grace in their Johnny Football case.
During the 2012 playoffs, Tacopina said, the Yankees hid from Rodriguez that a magnetic resonance imaging test had revealed that he had a torn labrum — essentially a hole in his hip — and continued to play him, even though he was struggling mightily.
“They rolled him out there like an invalid and made him look like he was finished as a ballplayer,” Tacopina said.
[...]
Rodriguez learned the extent of his injuries in the off-season, and the Yankees sent him to Dr. Bryan T. Kelly, a prominent surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Tacopina said Kelly later told Rodriguez that before the operation, Levine told Kelly, “I don’t ever want to see him on the field again.”
“It sent chills down Alex’s spine,” Tacopina said.
Rodriguez asked Kelly if Levine’s comment was a joke, Tacopina said, and was told that “it wasn’t a joke.”

Miguel Tejada To Be Suspended 105 Games
Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports Royals infielder Miguel Tejada will be suspended 105 games for twice testing positive for Adderall, an amphetamine. Having already tested positive once, his second positive means a 25-game ban, and Tejada received an additional 80 games for testing positive a third time shortly after that. Tejada is currently on the 60-day disabled list, and would begin his suspension afterwards. One more positive, and he receives a lifetime ban.Read Jeff Passan's report at Yahoo! Sports.

MLB Didn't Have Replay, People Bitched. MLB Now Has Replay, People Are Bitching.
For years everyone complained that Major League Baseball was a dinosaur, sticking with the human element instead of using technology to get the call right. Well, now MLB has announced they have a plan for a replay system, due to be voted on in November's meetings with the owners. Everyone's take? It's abandoning the human element, and games will take too long.
This is America. You will not please anyone.
For a reminder, here's a breakdown of the replay system:
- Managers get one review in the first six innings, two after the seventh (no carryovers).
- If the manager wins, he keeps his challenge.
- Managers cannot argue a reviewable call unless they call for replay.
- All replays would be handled in MLB's offices in New York, like the NHL's system.
- Future replays should take about a minute to 75 seconds.
- Home run reviews will be handled as they are now; only the umpire can call for those.
That's So A-Rod! Snitching?
CBS' 60 Minutes reports Alex Rodriguez's inner circle leaked unredacted Biogenesis documents to Yahoo! Sports in February. The documents revealed the names of Ryan Braun, Oriole Danny Valencia, Melky Cabrera, a minor leaguer, and A-Rod's own teammate, Francisco Cervelli; all have been suspended. The leak came after the Miami New Times ran documents documenting A-Rod's involvement, which had Braun's and Cervelli's names redacted.
If true, it could be evidence A-Rod not only obtained documents in the Biogenesis scandal, but Major League Baseball could use it as proof Rodriguez tried interfering with their investigation. It would also create issues with his own union, since the CBA states any allegations of use must be handled privately before a public announcement.

Charlie Hustle Should've Been An Alky Or Wife-Beater
Pete Rose recently spoke to Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan to discuss baseball and his own life. And when he spoke about his life, he admits he made a mistake:
I made mistakes. I can't whine about it. I'm the one that messed up and I'm paying the consequences. However, if I am given a second chance, I won't need a third chance. And to be honest with you, I picked the wrong vice. I should have picked alcohol. I should have picked drugs or I should have picked up beating up my wife or girlfriend because if you do those three, you get a second chance. They haven't given too many gamblers a second chances in the world of baseball.Hear the full interview at 93.7 The Fan.

Five Reasons To Hate Tom Hicks
Everybody hates Alex Rodriguez. When you read about A-Rod's huge contract with so little results, you ask "What idiot would write that check?" Well, that idiot was Tom Hicks, who's even admitted that was a dumb move. But if you think you can give a mulligan, you'd have to look into the full history of a man hated in at least four cities and on three continents. More after the jump...

Jack Clark Gets He And His Co-Host Fired For Not Knowing How Libel Works
Jack Clark started as a co-host of a St. Louis radio show over a week ago, so he's probably not aware of how to handle accusations and opinions. So when the topic of whether or not Pujols used steroids came up, host Kevin Slaten said that he believed Pujols "has been a juicer", a statement of his personal belief. But then Clark had to butt in:
Read more at Pro Baseball Talk and the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
I know for a fact he was. The trainer that worked with him, threw him batting practice from Kansas City, that worked him out every day, basically told me that’s what he did.Well, that's a statement of fact without evidence, which is libel. This morning, WGNU announced both men would be fired, despite the fact Slaten knew how to cover his ass. Of course, Clark's short-lived radio career included calling the third-in-the-NL Cards "quitters" and saying they have "poopy in their pants." Both men were fired after Pujols said he was seeking legal action. Which is fair, but if these allegations are true, Pujols may want to remember Lance Armstrong's win over a British newspaper; they had to pay out after saying he was juicing, but they're now suing back after he revealed he was.
